    Year-round Farm Hand

    Job Description

    Umbel Roots is a 7 acre no-till market garden focusing on organically grown vegetables, flowers, and fruits year round. We grow high quality produce for restaurants in the Bay Area as well as multiple local Farmers’ Markets. We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Farm Hand. The ideal candidate is a reliable, self-motivated team member that can work both independently and as part of a crew. Having 1+ year of farm or garden related experience is preferred. This is a physically demanding job that requires you to be able to lift/move up to 35 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds. Must be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions. Spanish speaking ability is highly valued but not necessary. Schedule is Monday through Friday, sunrise to eight and a half hours later. Hours change with the seasons’ light hours.

    Requirements

    Skills and Responsibilities Bed and field prep: composting and mulching Transplanting and weeding Harvesting and post-harvesting (washing/sorting) Light construction and irrigation projects Greenhouse work (sowing, thinning, watering) Other duties as assigned

    Unfortunately we do not offer housing on the farm, but we do offer unlimited vegetables for you to take home!
