Pastured Poultry Production Manager

The Pastured Poultry Manager is responsible for overseeing the health and overall management of our certified organic and Animal Welfare Approved, pastured poultry operation as well as managing one farmers’ market per week. This includes daily chores, maintaining and fixing equipment, weekly moving of the chicken coops, record keeping, caring for our roughly 700 laying hens & 2 livestock guardian dogs Teddy and Shadow, as well as monitoring necessary inventory & re-ordering feed as needed.

The ideal candidate enjoys caring for animals and has previous animal husbandry experience. This position is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, good at managing his/her own time, detail-oriented, & has strong communication skills. The ideal candidate has an interest and passion for improving systems and efficiency, and a love of animals (the job entails the daily care and loving of our extremely sweet and cuddly livestock guardian dogs Teddy & Shadow as well as all the laying hens). Qualifications: Candidates must have one to two seasons of pertinent farming experience. Must have basic knowledge and skill in fixing and maintaining equipment. Farmers’ Market or sales experience a plus. Must have clean driving record and be able/willing to drive a box truck, work 1 10+ hour market day per week, and lift 40-50lbs repetitively. This job is physically demanding, requiring lifting & pulling heavy crates as well as standing for long periods of time. Must be able to manage a dynamic & fast paced work environment. Spanish language skills a plus.

Position qualifies for a Health Reimbursement Account that pays for up to $350/month of insurance premiums, optional Dental plan, 1 week paid vacation, possibility for longer unpaid leave during the Winters. Up to 5 days paid sick days per annum. *While we do have on-site housing, it is very limited.
